The operator of a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup was killed in a fiery crash

The operator of a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup was killed in a fiery crash on Route 5 in Irasburg on Thursday morning. According to Vermont State Police, the Ram truck was traveling north when it veered into the southbound lane at approximately 7 a.m., approximately one mile north of Stagecoach Road. The truck collided with a Freightliner tractor-trailer truck driven by 42-year-old Travis Degre of Newport who was hauling an empty milk trailer. Police say both vehicles burst into flames. The driver of the Ram pickup, the sole occupant, was killed as a result of the crash and fire. The identity of the deceased will be confirmed by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington. Degre was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames when first responders arrived. Their investigation is ongoing.
